As an International Baccalaureate (IB) PYP school, we strive to follow the IB mission and philosophy in every element STEAM. We are excited to integrate STEAM into our IB-PYP program to help our students become life long learners. Through planning and collaboration, teachers at WTJ integrate STEAM into the IB units of inquiry. In addition to every day instruction, our primary campus students receive 45 minutes of a STEAM connection class each week in our STEAM lab. At Main Campus, a co-teach model is used to ensure that students are receiving the most hands-on instruction and experiences possible. Students have access to the Makerspace, Collaboratory, Science Lab, and Labitat for learning experiences throughout the school day.
The International Baccalaureate Mission Statement
The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
